Branding begins with a strategic brief based on vision and mission, business goals, competitive research and an evaluation of existing brand equity. Design is initiated in sketch and with black & white typography explorations. Then, selections are fleshed-out in color before being integrated into collateral and marketing materials.
Template design for connected-devices experience including set-top box, mobile and web platforms. Information architecture, screen layouts and graphical designs were provided to a software development team along with a UX specification and style guide. Iconography and display states were designed, and organizational flows and use cases were explored.
Conceptual framework design and graphical direction for TiVo's next generation user experience. Product vision, interactive architecture and animated transitions for a complete software and hardware upgrade that targets the set-top box, remote control, mobile, tablet and web platforms. Worked closely with a team of IA and Visual designers in tandem with a front-end and back-end engineering team. Prototyping and usability were actively tested with both current subscribers and prospective customers.
Conceptual designs for HBO On Demand's common user experience to be implemented and certified across various MSO platforms. Design and development best practices were required to ensure maximum deployment and reach. Standard definition and high definition designs were fully explored, designed and specified.
Official broadband site for the International Documentary Association. A vibrant, community destination for documentarians, writers and enthusiasts. Conceptual design, information architecture and graphic production were provided for a robust Flash / Flex front-end running on a Drupal framework. Features included a broadband player, monthly magazine, interactive calendar, social blogs and forums, user-generated uploads, donation forms, e-commerce and profile maintenance. Site was live from June 2007 until March 2015.
A complete re-design of DIRECTV's user experience across SD and HD set-top boxes, early smartphones and streaming services. The project(s) unified the specification for branded and OEM manufacturers, while doubling DIRECTV's subscriber base. The UX included ID design for the remote, set-top box and accompanying CE accessories.
Complete reference design and Flash prototype for a t-commerce, unified backend experience. Retail brand, content discovery, search, item attributes, promotions and payment templates were designed, spec'ed and cut-up for software development. Prototype was utilized for proof of concept, usability testing and marketing purposes.
3D, stereoscopic interface for a growing, video on-demand library. 4K production included left and right renders of interstitial transitions that resolved to interactive menus. Modular design allowed transitions to be "snapped together," providing seamless forward and backward navigation, along with previewing and purchasing capability. The experience targeted CE manufacturing partners who were promoting the 3D capabilities of their set-top boxes and ultra high-definition TVs.
